While Calrose brown rice has a nutty flavor that Calrose white rice lacks, it can be just as soft and sticky as Calrose white rice when it is cooked properly.
How to cook medium grain Calrose white rice:
- Rinse and drain 1 cup of the rice until the water runs clear;
- Add to it 1.5 cups of water to a pot.
- Let the rice soak in the water for 15 to 30 minutes. This produces a lovely, plump texture.
- After soaking, bring water to the boil, reduce heat to a simmer and place a lid on top.
- Cook for about 25-30 minutes or until tender.
- Pull off the heat and allow to sit for 10 min to steam. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.
