Australian Calrose White Rice (Medium Grain) – Bulk
$0.49 – $4.95
Description
As a medium-grain rice, Calrose is very different from other, more popular varieties of rice. In comparison to jasmine rice, Calrose rice is much more sticky and mild tasting.
Because of this, it’s a great alternative for at-home sushi rolls or to be served alongside your favorite meat and veg.
Calrose also differs from short-grain varieties like Chinese black rice and short-grain glutinous rice in terms of size. However, it can still serve as a substitute for them.
How to cook medium grain Calrose white rice:
- Rinse and drain 1 cup of the rice until the water runs clear;
- Add to it 1.5 cups of water to a pot.
- Let the rice soak in the water for 15 to 30 minutes. This produces a lovely, plump texture.
- After soaking, bring water to the boil, reduce heat to a simmer and place a lid on top.
- Cook for about 20 minutes.
- Pull off the heat and allow to sit for 10 min to steam. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.
Calrose white rice is a product of Australia.
