Australian Organic Pearl Barley (Pearled) – Bulk

$0.92$9.20

Pearl barley, or pearled barley has been processed to remove the outer hull & polished to remove most of the bran layer. It is the most common form of barley.

Description

Pearl barley is the most popular form of barley because it cooks faster and is less chewy than less-processed grains. It is traditionally used in soups and stews but can also be added to risottos and salads.

It has a slightly nutty flavour with a soft, chewy texture once cooked.

How To Cook Pearl Barley:

  • Rinse barley to remove any dust and debris.
  • Add rinsed barley to a pot and cover with water with a pinch of salt or stock. For 1 cup of grains, add 3 cups of fluid.
  • Bring pot to the boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally until grain is tender.
  • Once cooked to your liking, remove from heat, drain any remaining liquid, cover again and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff with a fork before serving.

Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.

Pearled Barley is grown in Australia.
