Couscous is not a grain (as many may think) but instead is “technically” a pasta made from water and semolina flour then rolled into little round balls.

Description
The main difference between Pearl couscous and traditional is the size and texture. Pearl couscous is larger than the traditional variety with a nuttier, toasted flavour and chewy texture.
This toasted flavour comes from the fact that the semolina is toasted once the balls have been formed with alters it flavour colour.
How To Cook Pearl Cous cous:
- For 1 cup of couscous, add 1.5 cups of water, broth or stock to a pot.
- Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes.
- Cook until tender or water is fully absorbed.
- Allow to sit off the heat for 2-3 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
- Serve and enjoy!
This variety is perfect to use in salads, add whatever spices you like or just keep it simple with parsley and olive oil.
