Description
Dried faba beans are very similar to chickpeas in terms of texture and taste once they are cooked. They are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and various essential nutrients like iron, zinc, and potassium.
How to prepare and cook faba beans.
- Soak the beans overnight or for 6-8 hours.
- Rinse and drain the beans once they have soaked.
- Bring beans to the boil, skimming off any foam from the top.
- Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover and allow the beans to cook for 1 to 1.5 hours or until tender.
- Once you are happy with their “tenderness” drain and rinse in cool water. This will make shelling them easier.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.
