Description
Ideally, jasmine rice should be steamed to retain its fluffy texture, but you can successfully boil it too. If you do boil it, add slightly more water than you would for a standard water to rice ratio.
Soaking & rinsing jasmine rice beforehand will significantly decrease the cooking time.
Jasmine rice has a sweet and nutty flavour and a distinctive floral aroma. It doesn’t stick together like other “glutenous” style rice’s instead has a light and fluffy texture.
How to steam Jasmine Rice:
- Soak the rice in a bowl of cold water for 10min.
- Drain and transfer to a shallow, heat proof bowl. (One that will fit into your steamer)
- Add cold water to the bottom of your steamer. (For 1/2 cup of rice add 1 cup water)
- Turn heat on to high, cover and cook for 20min or until rice is tender.
- Take off heat and allow to sit for 5min.
- Serve and enjoy!
