Description
Red split lentils don’t require long soak times before cooking and cook in minutes. During cooking, they disintegrate into puree and are best used in soups, to thicken stews, or in curries and casseroles, and making dips.
Before cooking, it’s always best to rinse them in warm water to remove dust and dirt.
How To Cook Split Red Lentils:
- Rinse lentils in a sieve under water for a few minutes to remove any dirt, dust and debris.
- For 1 cup of lentils, add 1.5 cups of water saucepan. Dont add in any salt as this can make the lentils “tough” once cooked.
- Bring to a boil before turning down to a simmer. Stir them occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the bottom.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes or until tender.
Split red lentils are a product of Australia.
