Wholemeal flour, also known as whole wheat flour, is a type of flour that is made by grinding the entire wheat kernel. Which mean that it retains most of the nutritional value of the wheat.

Description

Wholemeal plain flour can be used as a substitute for white flour, but with a few modifications. Wholmeal flour will absorb more liquid than white flour, so, a good rule of thumb is to add 2 tsp of extra liquid for every cup of whole wheat flour.

It also will have a coarser texture than white flour, so let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes. This will help to produce a soft texture by stopping the wheat from absorbing fluid during baking.

Our all-purpose wholemeal plain flour is unbleached and contains no leavening agents.

Storage: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight. Use within 6-12 months.
