Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) – Bulk
Price range: $0.73 through $7.28
Description
Textured Vegetable Protein is often used to bulk and add extra protein to meat-based dishes. TVP is typically made from soybeans during the process of making soybean oil
Before using TVP, you need to rehydrate it with hot water or broth. Then, it’s easy to use as a plant-based alternative to ground meat in dishes like meatballs, burgers patties, or chili.
Even if you don’t follow a plant-based diet, you can still add TVP to your meals to add texture and nutrients.
How To Use Textured Vegetable Protein: To make the equivalent of 500g of mince
- Add 170g of dry TVP to a bowl
- Mix up 340ml of hot water or stock (beef or chicken) and add to TVP
- Allow to sit & fully absorb all the water/stock (5-10min)
- It is now ready to be used in spaghetti, nachos, meatballs & more!
Note: TVP will taste like what you flavour it with. For beef mince, add beef stock, for chicken mince add chicken stock ect.
